As a Human Resources Generalist at Dominion Energy’s Cove Point LNG Plant, you will serve as an advisor/partner delivering front-line HR support to management and employees.  You will coach, council, and provide tools to address HR issues in the following areas:  Workforce Planning; Recruitment and Staffing; Compensation and Benefits; Employee & Labor Relations; Risk Management; HR Technology, and Change Management.   If selected, you will find this job to be both demanding and rewarding as you work in a highly responsive and service-oriented environment. 
 
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Work with management and other human resources professionals to understand business issues and develop/ implement strategies to address identified business needs and support business plans. 
  • Respond to inquiries from management and employees on human resources issues to ensure company and business unit programs, policies and procedures are administered in a consistent and legal manner.
  • Lead the administration of human resource programs such as succession planning, recruiting, performance management, salary administration, leadership training, employee issue resolution, etc.
  • Participate on project teams, or act as project lead on key HR strategic initiatives.
  • May provide interpretation of union contract to line management and participate in grievance process by providing input and advice to management and employees.
 
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Minimum 3+ years related HR experience
  • Ability to build strong partnerships, through teamwork, and open communication with management, employees and within HR
  • Knowledge of performance management, employee relations, pay and staffing trends and practices preferred.
  • Knowledge of HR policies, programs, procedures and relevant government regulations.
  • Ability to multi-task, exercise independent judgment and decision-making
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Planning and organization skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Must be creative and flexible, and able to shift priorities quickly
  • Technology skills and in-depth knowledge of Microsoft applications and SAP a plus
  • PHR Certification preferred.
 
 
Education
  • Preference for a 4 year Degree in HR, Business Administration or Liberal Arts.
 
 
Qualifications:
3 years directly related knowledge and experience. Knowledge of performance management, employee relations, pay and staffing trends and practices. Knowledge of company organizational structure. Knowledge of company policies, programs, procedures and relevant government regulations. Planning and organizational skills. Proficient personal computer skills and in depth knowledge of Microsoft applications and SAP. Strong communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills. Proficiently performs assignments having the knowledge, skills, abilities, and experience needed to carry out all aspects of the job. Exercises independent judgment and decision-making in planning, organizing and conducting work assignments. May receive instructions and guidance on unusual or complex problems and knows when to get others involved. Effectively utilizes the proper resources to develop solutions and devise new approaches to problems encountered in work assignments. 

Responsibilities: 
This role responds to inquiries from management and employees on human resources issues to ensure company and business unit programs, policies and procedures are administered in a consistent and legal manner. Identifies human resources needs for the business unit. Collaborates and works with management and others in human resources community to develop strategies and plans to address needs identified and assists in integrating human resources strategies and plans with business plans. Coordinates administration of human resource programs such as succession and workforce planning, test administration, transfer/relocation policy interpretation, staffing/position posting system, performance management, compensation/salary administration and pay for performance processing, leadership training, co-op and minority scholarship programs, etc. Provides tools to address a variety of moderately complex to complex HR issues and initiatives including compliance, employee relations, investigations, equitable and consistent treatment of employees, change management and problem resolution. May gather and compile data, perform analysis and make recommendations. May provide interpretation of union contract to line management and attend and participate in grievance process by providing input and advice to management and employees. Perform other duties as requested or assigned.
