Test System and Tools Development Engineer
Purpose of Position
Work with project teams to design supporting tools and test equipment hardware and software, implement test plans, develop test strategies and facilitate test execution for next generation I&C systems used in the Nuclear Power Generation Industry.  A successful candidate will be steadfast in ensuring test coverage related to the regulatory requirements while also taking a proactive role in driving process improvements related to Software Quality Assurance process.
Major Responsibilities
- Design hardware and software to create systems used in the testing of all phases of I&C equipment used for Nuclear Safety Control Applications as well as other systems of various sizes and degrees of complexity.
- Derive test systems, tools, and plans from functional, system, and software requirements
- Interface with different organizations to determine potential needs and facilitate development of new systems and tools
- Rapid prototyping of software solutions to provide proof of concept and justification for further development activities
- Define and implement standard long term test strategies to improve test quality and streamline testing through effective regression planning while still complying with nuclear regulatory process requirements
Knowledge and Skill Requirements
- BS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, BSEET, CE degree or related field is required
- Experience in .NET software development. C# or C++ preferred.
- Experience with National Instruments data acquisition products. This includes system integration and program development in LabVIEW and/or TestStand.
Knowledge and Skills Desirable but not required
- Experience in integrating hardware and software solutions
- Knowledge of plugin interface architectures, XML-based file manipulation, and interfacing to databases are all a plus.
- Knowledge of standard communication and interfacing protocols: RS232, OPC, MODBUS
- Experience with Oracle and/or Access databases; SQL, .Net Dataset architecture.
- Working knowledge of software requirements management, configuration control, and quality assurance practices and methodologies
- Demonstration of solid practices in the control of test execution records and bug tracking
- Experience in safety related applications using redundant programmable logic controllers
